September 2011-PIH welcomes Drs. Fitzgerald and Schooley

David Fitzgerald, MD(Internal Medicine/Infectious Disease)
Dr. Fitzgerald received his medical school training at University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill and went on to receive his residency training in Internal Medicine at University of Pennsylvania. He returned to UNC, Chapel Hill to complete his fellowship in Infectious Disease. Dr. Fitzgerald volunteered at an HIV clinic in Kenya and has an interest in Global Health, HIV and Tuberculosis (Tb). David’s wife, Elizabeth (a pediatrician), will also be working in Lilongwe with Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation-Malawi (a close partner of PIH). We are looking forward to having these new team members in our fight against HIV and Tb.


Alan Schooley, MD (Pediatrics)
After graduating from medical school at University of Alabama in Birmingham, he did his pediatric internship and residency at the Children’s Hospital of Boston and Boston Medical Center. He has worked for the Indian Health Services Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM for the past 9 years. Most recently he served as the chair of pediatrics.

Dr. Schooley will be seeing pediatric patients at the Partners in Hope Medical Center, as well as taking a significant role in the EQUIP-Malawi training program.  Read more
